upon further disection i have found that the heel strap is stitched to the boot on the fatty's and the varsities. however the il capos actually have a heel strap that is removable/replaceable. i will also note that the souls can be removed from the fatty pros with a little bit of work (just have to use some elbow grease to get through all of the glue). the toe cap on the other hand as fast eddie said earlier is not easily removed and would probably tear the fabric of the boot if you tried. the naturals also seem to fit into nimh/shima souls once the toe cap and non ufs souls have been removed. weird

First at all i really like my Varsitys and it was the best idea in the last 5 years of rolling to switch back to softboots.
But there is one little anoying thing. The tounge is moving arround, it doesn´t matter how tight i lace it up, it´s moving arround. Has someone ever made a mod to add some padding to the tounge?

if you buy an old pair of fatty pros (ufs style sans the varsity souls) you can saw off the stock souls in half where right after the bridge to the heel and then you could attach red carbon souls. are the instep straps stitched to the boot like the new varsities or are they removable like the 250cc's/il capos?

          what can you tell me...

I picked up a pair of these in a thrift store, what era/ category would they fit in?

varsity souls and the light grey slimlines/creates would look sick on those.

can't tell what style stock frame that is on the bottom. the h-block looks like the ones from the transfer/nemesis era. could just be the angle though

might as well add these to the thread incase they haven't been seen yet. might inspire someone else to give it a whirl much like the first couple pages did for me. i will say that the 125's were the hardest ones to configure. the stock k2 soul is riveted to the boot. i didn't drill it out as much as they melted through the boot while attempting to drill them out. the toe cap is also glued to the shell and should not be attempted to be removed. the natural/250cc style boot also seems to have the best fit (slimmer and hugs the top of the foot the best). I can wear a size 11 250cc, i can comfortably wear a size 11.5 natural and i can comfortably wear a size 12 bing air. the fit of the boot really makes a difference between the half sizes

i still have some nemesis (size 7) in good condition... i was wondering if could put the varsity souls on them! did anybody try this?

i'm sure fast eddie has already tried this.

I set my size 11 Transfers on top of the Varsity plates and started laughing at how enormous the boots are compared to the soul plates.

I don't think you'd want to mess with it

Why would you want to put the Varsity souls on a Nemesis boot? They're like a crappier version of the Nemesis souls... at least the Nemesis souls have a flat edge.

It's interesting to see the cult of k2 persisting. I've been off them for 3+ years now (Xsjado) and am currently hacking together a setup. No other skates have felt as good.

A question for those on current era Varsity/Fatty Pro skates: did you shave down the raised area of the soul/royale plate, as well as the on-skate (soul) mounting areas? It looks like a good way to reduce ride height by 3mm+, which would eliminate almost all of the ride stilting.

How is the k2 sizing? I wear a 6.5 in US shoe size(i have tiny feet) and my USD carbon 1's in size 6 fit me perfectly. What size k2 would I wear(does size depend on model)?

And, are there any good k2 fatty pro 2012 reviews online?Ive seen the inlineskates.net review on youtube which is more of an advertisement than a review.

And has anyone removed the toe cap on the k2 fatty 2012?I would like to see how it looks without it.

                          thanks

I didn't shave down anything on my Varsity's & didn't notice any dramatic height issues, either. Couldn't seem to get them tight enough, though. I don't skate them anymore, even though they are in great condition.

K2s are pretty much true to size, but yes, it can depend on the model. I think the 250ccs ran a half size small, the Style Points were true to size, Nemesis era seemed true to size, the red Varsity's seemed a half size too big.

I'm pretty sure the toe cap is glued on the 2012 Fatty Pro. The other Fatty Pro models that have some out in the last few years have been glued on, I don't see why they would stop doing it now.

I currently skate these bad boys They are amazing.

the only thing i would say that would make these look better would be either
pain the red part of those frames either black or yellow
and put either black or the grey carbon 2 should plates on them

they look so comfortable! is there any hard plastic on the inside of the boot?

Yes. The style points, king 55s, 250ccs, naturals and the subsequent Fatty Pros that looked just like the Naturals have very similar internal construction.

the bottom of the boot is covered in a thin layer of glued-on textured rubber, then it's a contoured piece of hard plastic. I use stock K2 insoles that have a built-in gel pad in the heel, then a Dr. Scholl's gel insert on top of that. The padding on the style points is very good, no pressure points. well, i've yet to skate a K2 boot with any pressure points at all

the new fatty pros toe cap is indeed glued on . Tim Taylor confirmed that for me last saturday.

i also forgot to mention that the souls of the 125's are not just riveted on but the toe cap/souls are also glued on.

i need ideas for my style points. i was thinking of making a camo setup for the lolz/hate. they are alreay black and tan in places. throw in some brown and green and voila camo....

really wish i could find khakis skate parts to hook them up with. i'd be down for a black and tan skate

Black carbon plates & black frames w/ black Shredweiser wheels would be a really sick ninja setup, with or without filling in the white areas of the boot with a black sharpie.

good call. i was thinking about trying to get a green k2 skate in the mix but i haven't been able to find any backyards in my size...yet...

think i will switch my 08 fatty pros. to the purple getup and ninja out the style points

Awesome, I'll live vicariously through you because I just don't have the time to mod my style points for a few months at least.

I shaved the ~3.5mm protrusion on the bottom of the boots to offset height added by the carbon souls. I may try to recenter the the Varsity souls at some point: 3mm shift would make the negatives good. How could they go to the trouble to fix the skate for torques, but not the negatives, especially with how large they were on the Nemesis? Also thought about chopping Nemesis souls, but they're a weird fit.

These are really lightweight and comfortable. There's a fair amount of flex both with the frame and the souls like on OG k2 soulframes. Landings are soft. I'm not a fan of the way the ridge on the OG souls stick out past the Carbon plates, but it doesn't cause problems.

                                              Nice!

i hate that the heel strap on those is useless though. Mint buckles would look sick along with the kelso heel strap from the carbons maybe.

i peeled the stock soul off the bottom of those and am plannin on re-using it. i hate the way the carbon soul looks with the toe cap still on.

How could i resist? gonna throw the varsity souls on them all white formula XS frames and all white street artist wheels with teal buckles and teal laces. shit is going to be epic. guess i will have a backup set of powerblade frames

K2 Alexis Boa Womens Inline Skates So I've spoke about different styles of inline skates in each of my other lenses to this point, so there's no reason to stop that trend now. This time around I'm going to speak about womens inline skates, more specifically, the K2 Alexis Boa inline skates. While it's probably obvious that I don't use womens inline skates personally, I feel that with my decades of skating experience and years selling skates, I can offer up a pretty good assessment of how K2's Alexis inline skates perform.

remove that thing. the rubber underneath is pretty durable. I personally would hold off until the carbon soul mod had been completed though. adds a little bit of plastic to the sides to swap wear of the souls for wear of the boot.

are you skating them with or without heel pads in?

Not sure what else I can get for cheap. I don't go hard, and I rarely jump anymore. I was never that good anyways, but now my body won't let me try what I used too.

i have not seen the symetric souls on k2's yet. I want to see the 2.0 souls on some style points though.
