    USD GAWDS ankle pains?

I tried my USD Franky Morales GAWDS blades for the first time today. I gotta say the lower shin around the ankle area hurts a lot. Under closer inspection, I found the tongue of the boot to be the most likely culprit. I tried skating without the buckle strapped and with the buckle strapped but without it clipped in and there was no pain.

I found that by rearranging the tongue to hug my lower ankle area more, it decreased the pressing around the area somewhat but casual pain persists. When I tried jumps, it hurt less even on landings but normal skating produces consistent pain.

Does the skate need breaking in or is this an uncommon issue that is known to persist? What should I do?

First of all, everyone has different feet and every skate has different shape. I can't stand Xsjado, they hurt my ankle badly, but I'm very happy with my Trigger and a lot of people had confort issues with them.
Gawds ( or Carbon ) are not know to be super comfy, they are pretty hard and narrow and thin with padding, that doesn't help in any situation. But you can heatmold them.
My Carbon 1 hurt my feet a lot, I put second tongue inside ( like in '99 ), once broken in it was ok.

Oh, wow. The few reviews I found claimed Carbons are pretty good but I get what you mean about this shape maybe not adhering to my feet. These GAWDS can be heat molded? They're Carbon Frees (to my knowledge) and they noted on one page that they can't be heat molded because it has an integrated liner.

This second tongue trick, is there a tutorial on how that's done?

It's ok. Yea. I read that they followed the Carbon Free design and they stated it's not heat moldable. Sigh. I read that they probably need breaking in but it may be a long and painful process. Anyone here can confirm?

I have had Carbon 1,2,3 and I confirm that you need several sessions to break in ( and it's a bit painfull yeah )

Several sessions to break in. I see. Well. I take it that it's worth it since you've done it multiple times before.

I've also had carbons 1, 2, and 3 but my feet are really tiny so I haven't had too many issues with them. Except a bit on the outside of my right foot, otherwise pretty comfy for me. Also the carbon 1's were awful. If the gawds are just carbon frees with a skin then I assume they'll break in after a bit.

Thanks for your input. I've decided to embark on this journey of pain. Through one session so far, I did notice a difference. It still hurt but significantly less. Here's hoping the next sesh will be less painful.

As far as i know, Powerslide has not installed it's new Pain-Free Technology in Gawds skates, so it probably still comes with the outdated Pain-Technology.
You will have to buy some Powerslide Puls skates to enjoy the benefits of Pain-Free Technology.

Update: I've been on the GAWDS for a little over 2 months now and man... the pain is still there. It's not so common on my right skate unless I do certain tricks. On my left skate, pain is instant every single time. So I put on two pairs of socks to deal with it. It helps but especially during moments we're transitioning from spot to spot, the pain rears its ugly head again. USD GAWDS were a bad investment from my point of view and I'd love to sell them. I'm certain someone out there has Carbon/Carbon Free feet that wants 'em.
