    Remz done?

Discuss. Josiah out, Nils out, Nick Wood out as well.

Not surprising, but that sucks. I always loved how capable they were to do tricks in. They work very well as an "aggressive only" setup. I have wanted to get another pair of them for the last few years but held off because they never have replacement souls available in an 8-9 shell, and I seem to burn through souls quick. Plus it seems the sock fit liner has been gone on the last few models.

That’s a bummer. Didn’t Kato say something about making Remz til the day he dies?

Actually he did say he will work on Remedyz till he dies, Remz =/= Remedyz (but yes, he kinda failed that)

I forgot if he still owns a patent over the skates or if sunshine acquired it.

"Nick wood out" had me lolling.

It must be hard being a ripper on Remz when like everyone you look up to who is skating today skates something else and you cannot get anyone interested in the brand at all. I wonder if Haffey would ride anything else. Could see him on the Sebas tbh.

Interesting! Would definitely fit the type of skater that they're going for. Haven't seen anything from him for a while though. Would love to see him skating FISE comps and stuff like that but I guess Nitro money is better.

I feel like Seba would be a great fit and having the powerhouse of Haffey, CJ, Pottier would be pretty awesome. But I'm not sure if that matters to Chris anymore, and it seems like things are potentially iffy with Seba/FR all of that, right?

Whatever the case may be, it's a shame to see Remz in the state they're in. But they haven't done anything to stay relevant other than fix their frame alignment (long overdue) and a different liner.

Pottier is on FR and CJ is still on Seba from what I've seen. I don't think it matters what skates Haffey is on really as long as he can still do big airs for Nitro. None of the crowd could care less if he's on Remz, they don't even know what Remz are.

Remz is the one skate brand that I really felt a connection with, both from the hardware and the ethos for the company. Since I discovered skating, I have always followed Remz and every update/release has always excited me. I took a huge break from skating (5-6 years) but I still followed the updates from Remz over anything else. I remember when the Remz Morales were released back in 06ish, the newest Hr 2's still got me just as pumped. My fingers are crossed, for whatever that is worth.

His sections were some of the hardcore ones. He always went huge.

It's more that he hasn't been seen skating in like ten years so him not being on Remz is like...I didn't even know he still was.

There was a short period around Demode time when he was really good. I mean I'm sure he was always really good but around that time his style looked great too. He did that disaster kindgrind in the Demode intro in white Remz that was so sick. His later sections involved too much chopping heads of birds and mediocre skating. A couple of my friends went to Cali, again around Demode time and skated with him and Damien Wilson and said they were really nice guys and showed them some spots and also absolutely killed everything the went to. Damien gave my mate that "Kill Yourself Santee" stencilled blazer that he wore in Demode too, think he still has it!

is it a fact or just a rumour? if so, it's sad but not surprising.
i guess remz had their biggest sucess around 03/04 when they dropped their first ufs models... it was the hot shit back then. around 2010 when the new haffey pro models dropped it seamed very popular again. in 2012 they had a very strong am team (ryan sibbio, mason richard, blee,..) and i hoped for them that they could build up on this. in my opinion one of the best am teams at the time...
i'm glad i didn't destroy my hr 1.3 and nils completely as well as some os model.. also have some black h.r. 1.1 in mint condition.. funny thing is, that i didn't feel that much of a difference from the "original" remz to the true balance style skates. but i noticed that some of the models (i rode remz for about 10 years straight) have a little bit more or a little thicker cloth inside the shell and this bothered me even more on some models than the frame position. it might have been just a few mm, but since i skate them in a small shell it made a differene. also i couldn't use the new and "improved" liner that came with the nils first. the shock absorber was too big and crashed my toes in the shell, also felt like high heels.

They have always had great riders who are really dedicated to the brand. With Nils and now Josiah leaving I would say they're on their way out but who knows. They still have Haffey and Jo Zenk.

yeah, they had always a great team (morales, o'brien, nils, etc.)... i just wanted to say that to me the am team 2012 really stood out, since all of them were young and had the future infront of them and seeing an am team that good was simply exciting.

It didn't ever seem to me like they did much with their team. They never made a team video, which at a certain point could have been one of the hardest hitting videos of all time with the team riders they had.
Team videos don't mean much these days, but at that time they had to be one of the biggest driving forces of skate sales.

Yeah I love the idea of him skating a few park comps per year again. Interesting to think of him in a hard-boot as well rather than Remz in terms of lack of energy transfer on those big assed ramps - you'd imagine rolling down a Mega Ramp fakie would feel much more stable in a Hard-boot.

Was thinking about him and park comps the other day - particularly the "Haffey v Aragon" spell of '04 to '08 or so - those two really were absolutely on top of park comps for a bit.
