Valo toe cut - is it worth it?

Just wondering if it's worth doing the toe cut thing to down size from a UK9 to UK8. I currently skate a UK9 V13 and find them kinda tight and didn't want to invest in UK8 skinned Valo and cut them up only to find them to be still too small! Has anyone else had any experience with this? Thanks.

What size foot are you? Is your foot too wide or too long in the UK9 V13?

I'd try to find some UK8 lights maybe. I think they would be ok if you are like an 8.5. The UK8 V13 boot is fucking tiny compared to the UK9 - even if you cannibalize it successfully it's gonna fit weird.

Thems with a thinner liner should also be ok.

My mate did this and they were too small. He skated them for a bit but then went back to 9 hard shells. He struggled to find UK9 new Valo's anywhere now though and has switched to Razors.

I'm a UK9, my main issue is the width. My feet ache a little at the start of a session, but settle down. I think at this stage in my skating life I'm over trying to have good looking skates and will have to go for the size9 boats. Comfort comes first.

I've found a pair, thought I'd try them out before they're all gone, never skated a proper Valo skate before! Was always put off by the size.

It will not work if UK9 is already slim for you. The 7-8 shell is way smaller. The Valo Light 7-8 should fit. I've been skating the uk9 myself and have a 7-8 sizemore laying around. As I don't have a skin I didn't try the toecut but I've tried some toecut valos from a friend. They did fit but weren't comfortable. But my feet are pretty slim The 7-8 lights are wider and longer. I can fit the VA olive with the stock liner but when I put the Intuitions M in them I even get too much wiggle room on my toes. Size M THEMs should fit you perfect and look small.

I'd skate the UK9 M12 boot over the skinned UK8 boot. Less bulky.

Cutting out the toes on valos is
as sound from an engineering perspective as taking a car and cutting off the roof to make a convertable. Anybody who cuts out the toes on valos is obviously poor because poor people dont understand basic mechanics of any nature.

At the time of writing THEM hadn't been released...now THEM skates are available I wouldn't dream of going anywhere near Roces/Valo.

I'd say the Roces M12's are a far superior skate to Them's.

I'd pick M12's over THEM any day, it's simply a better boot imo.
