Is the blading cup course a joke

Over a hundred and fifty competitors at 75$ a person and it looks worse than a DIY built in an hour out at slab city. This really is just a fundraiser isn’t it?

The course isn’t the best, but ppl are making the best of it.

montre has absolutely put in the best of it.

    the results SHOULD be:
    montre Livingston
    derek Henderson
    someone else.

we’ll see how it goes, though.

      1st - Montre
      2nd - Soichiro
      3rd - Yuto Goto

i’m not gonna say Derek Henderson got robbed, because all 3 on the podium killed it, but it was too bad he wasn’t rewarded for how hard he s

Best Trick - Broskow 450 fastslide (he did it in the finals, but he shouldn’t have even been in the finals because he didn’t do anything during his heat - maybe 2 real tricks)

Aaron Feinberg won the Veteran’s Cup - which was probably the highlight of the weekend. Aaron, Roadhouse, Vinny, Mike Budnik, Arlo, Rob G, Mike Scott, Scott Crawford, and others all put on a great show.

A+ event. So amazing to see Arlo and Feinberg skate, and Montre worked the crowd like a hero. Great times.

The under 18 competitor list seemed a tad bit bigger than last year.

Do't forget all the sponsors probably give a bit too.

And yeah compare the 2012 course to this one…

            And this made me laugh.

But it looked an amazing event and im glad it still continues.

couldn`t attend this time.... but yeah the course looking worse every year it`s so hard to explain , maybe the time on the streets was limited just like last time and they had to clean everything before the evening ? that`s the only thing that comes to my mind but still...

Big lol. If you think Blading Cup is bad, look at Capital Clash in the UK this year. Literally was held on obstacles made of old wood and railings in a really sketchy part of London under a motorway. Im amazed no one was stabbed.

I love the fact it was still going, the community really is holding the sport together but damn... makes me sad.

I remember the shock at seeing the 2016 course and how small it was compared to 2014 and 2015. I brought my girlfriend for the first time that year and had a lot of explaining to do. This year it felt like everyone had come to accept that the course would be small and was just stoked to be there and be supportive. I felt like this year had a particularly good energy. I know it's advantageous to have the event near dining and bars, but wouldn't it be easy to hold the comp at a skatepark?
                    Yours truly,

The closest skateparks large enough to hold an event are Huntington Beach, Lake Forest and Orange Vans. All would likely be more expensive to host at and wouldn't see the foot traffic that downtown Santa Ana does.

I really dont think you can compare the 2 comps at all, ones a nonprofit where everything goes back to the bladers, and ones an absolute cash cow, with garbage obstacles and a minimal prize.

Montre is a great skater but I am tired of seeing the same few tricks every edit he's in. 450 royale, 540 ao soul, and misty flips. They are safety tricks for him at this point.
