You're using a t2i, right? Don't expect to get the correct field of view from these lenses because the 85mm acts as a 136mm and the 14mm acts as a 22.5mm, since you are not using a full frame camera. You're going to have to be further away from whatever your are filming than what you'd have to be if you were using a 5D or better.

    Here's a review on the 14mm:

Optically the worst 14mm FX lens sold today, but much better than nothing at all.

      "correct field of view" wtf
He's asking for lens critique, not camera critique. If he owns a camera with aps-c sensor, any lens will be cropped.

      wtf
      very weird distortion

Field of view, angle of view, they are both used interchangeably. Focal length, what the fuck ever.

I gave him a link for a review of the lens, one that said it's got crappy optics.

And no, if he has a crop sensor Canon, why do you think they make EF-S lenses?

A 17mm ef-s lens is still the equivalent of 27mm on a full frame. So it doesn't matter if you buy an ef or ef-s lens, you still have to add a 1,6 multiplier.

Eddie, I know you know this. But seems that he is less experienced. Your words "don't expect to get the correct field of view from these lenses" can sound confusing and making him worried about his equipment rather than encouraging to go out and shoot. I don't think there is such thing as a "correct field of view" (again, I know what you meant, just don't like the wording).

Bottom line: OP- you didn't write what camera you do have, and what are you going to be using it for. For filming the lenses will be fine. As for photography, cheaper dslr's will not meter light with them, so you will only be able to shoot in M mode- no problem if you have time to set up, but no good for snapshots.

Tony, this is what we're talking about:

And sadi, I meant that if he really wanted to get a wider focal length for filming (14mm), getting an EF-S lens would be better. For example, the Canon 10-22mm EF-S lens. He wouldn't get the wider aperture, but would get the wider field of view than the Rokinon or whatever it's called.

Sounds like a nice setup. Get out there, use it and post what you get!

I'm especially interested in the 14mm 2.8 in low light filming, what sort of shutter speed you can use with a low ISO (100-200) and low aperture (5.6+).

Also interested in how much good the mic does when plugged into the camera.

              Post some stuff!

He already got the lenses, he didn't ask what he should have gotten instead

Funny how someone would ask for feedback on purchased items rather than doing so before said purchase.

I used the wide angle today for a music video and it worked rather well on my U-fly the reason i didnt go with an 8mm is because I hate the bubbly effect really doesnt look good to me and the mic works fuckin amazing probably the item I am most impressed with I will post this music video and I actually used a recording off of the mic looped on the video
